Yesterday I had to drive over 30 minutes to bring Cosmo to the dog groomer.
Since grooming takes about an hour and a half, driving back to the office and then back to get him again seemed like a big waste of time and gas. So I packed up the laptop and headed for the library, conveniently located in the same town as the groomer.
The work I completed while at the library for that short hour and a half was quite amazing.
It was something I’d been procrastinating on – a custom quote for a client that involved redirects, removing pages from search engine indexes. There was also a training component that would allow our client to take down web pages in a more user-friendly manner.
Once focused on the quote, I found the perfect format for relaying client understanding and actually enjoyed writing it up. Later, I received the ultimate feedback — the quote was accepted within an hour after it was sent.
In the future, the library in my own town may be a destination when there’s one of those projects that needs to be done and never seems to get attention. With none of the usual office distractions and a clear direction on which to focus, the library may provide just the magic needed.
