Christmas in July is a popular theme for everything from a week at camp to art festivals to beach parties.
This year my Christmas cactus joined in the fun by blooming in July! At first I thought maybe it knew something that I didn’t, but then I realized it had heard the employees at Top Of The List talking about one of the charities that we’re sponsoring – Little Mary’s Hospitality House – since Christmas in July is the theme of their dinner and silent auction fundraiser this Saturday, July 27.
Little Mary’s provides a free vacation or week-long retreat for families who have children battling life threatening diseases. They have a six-apartment complex on the shores of an almost-private lake to house families, and exist solely through private donations. There’s a sad story behind how they got started, but this wonderful charity and the families they’ve made happy for over 25 years are such positive outcomes.
Not only do the silent auction items help ensure the charity remains sustainable, but they’re helping with online visibility for their sponsors also. Little Mary’s has allowed us to give credit to the generous sponsors that request it by establishing links from the Little Mary’s website to its sponsor websites. This is truly a win-win for all!
