Hoogerhyde Safe & Lock

The Problem

hoogerhydeHoogerhyde Safe & Lock’s original website was created in 2007. We got a few hits calls from it, but fewer over time.  At the end of 2009 I discovered how hard it was to find Hoogerhyde on the internet – we didn’t seem to come up anywhere. That prompted me to contact Bev Mapes with Top of the List.

Learning the business, optimizing for search engines

Bev took the time to learn about Hoogerhyde’s business, then we came up with a list of potential key words for us to use. Bev ran a report that showed how many searches were made nationally by these words, and this report was the basis for words that we targeted for our SEO project. Initially Bev just tweaked our existing website to make it SEO friendly.

Amazing improvement

Over the next few months Search Placement Reports showed amazing improvement. Hoogerhyde’s placement went from “not found” for 7 of 8 key words to coming up #1 in 4 of 8 keywords (and sometimes 1, 2 and 3, or 1, 2 and 4 for some words). The number of people finding us went from almost zero to 50, to 100, to 200, increasing almost every month.

After seeing that Top of the List’s SEO program actually works, we overhauled our website to improve the quality of information that visitors find. That in turn further increased the number of visitors to our site. Not only that, but more BUYERS of big ticket items started coming to our store. And they started telling us that they found us online.

Aiming for the big one

About 18 months ago we focused on selling walk-in vault doors, a high priced specialty product. As a result, our sales of vault doors went up by over 300% this year –  not just in Michigan but also in other states too.

Overall our sales increased 85.3% from 2009 through 2015, and Top of the List has been a big part of that.  Hoogerhyde Safe has continued to work with Top of the List because there is a great ROI for the money we invest with them.
